AI Smart Reminder — Privacy Policy

Effective: 15 July 2026  |  Version: 1.1  |  App: AI Smart Reminder (Android)

1. Introduction

This policy describes how the AI Smart Reminder Android application (the "App") handles data. The App manages reminders and daily tasks with voice control and AI assistance. This document applies only to the App; the adverr® website's data handling is covered by a separate privacy policy.

Processing complies with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Google Play Developer Program Policies.

2. Data controller

3. Core principle: your data stays on your device

The App has no user account and no sign-up. Your reminders, daily tasks, categories and settings are stored only on your device (in the phone's local database). We do not send them to any server of ours, and there is no cloud backup. Uninstalling the App deletes all of this data.

Data may leave the device only in the following feature-bound cases — always solely to make that feature work, with no identifier attached, over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.

4. What data we handle, by feature

4.1 AI reminder (typed or dictated text)

When you create a reminder with the AI assistant, the text of your typed or spoken command is sent for processing to an AI service (Google Gemini) through a relay server we operate (Vercel), so it can be turned into a reminder. No identifier is attached to the text — no name, email, device ID or account data. You control the command's content; please do not include sensitive personal data, as it is processed by a third-party AI provider. We do not permanently store the sent text on our server. The transmitted text is used solely to create your reminder (purpose-bound, limited use): it is not used for advertising, profiling or any other purpose, and under the terms of Google's paid Gemini API the provider does not use it to train AI models either.

4.2 Speech recognition (microphone)

Dictation uses Android's built-in speech recognizer. The audio is processed and transcribed by the operating system (typically Google); the App itself does not record or send audio to our server. Microphone access is active only while you are dictating.

4.3 Location-based reminders (location data)

If you set a location-based reminder (e.g. "remind me when I get home"), the App uses your device's precise (GPS-based) location — only on the device — to evaluate the geofence, via Android's own geofencing service. Your coordinates are never transmitted anywhere, never stored off-device, and never shared with third parties.

We request the background-location permission solely so the location reminder works even when the App is closed or not in use — without it, the alert could not fire on arrival. Before the permission is requested, the App shows a clear disclosure explaining this.

When you search for a place by name (e.g. "Spar"), the App sends only the typed place name and — at most — a two-letter country code to the open OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) geocoding service to turn the name into coordinates. Your own coordinates or precise current location are never sent in this case.

4.4 Calendar sync

If you enable calendar sync, the App writes your reminder's title and time to a calendar you select on your device, and — if you explicitly enable it in Settings — reads the events of the calendars synced to your device so it can display them on the App's timeline and home-screen widgets.

Calendar reading is display-only and happens solely on your device: your calendar events are never sent to any server — including ours — and the App does not modify them. The App only writes, updates or — with your confirmation — deletes calendar events that it created itself. Calendar data remains in your device's calendar provider; if that is a synced account (e.g. Google Calendar), that account's own terms apply.

4.5 Subscription and purchases

Subscriptions are handled by Google Play Billing. Your payment details are processed by Google; the App only receives confirmation of subscription validity and has no access to card or payment data. Google's processing is covered by Google's own privacy policy.

5. What we do NOT do

  • No analytics, behavioural tracking or tracing in the App.
  • No advertising and no advertising-purpose data collection.
  • No transmission of device identifiers, advertising IDs or user profiles.
  • We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing.
  • No user account, so no password or account data either.

6. Third parties that may receive data

Only to operate the relevant feature, as described above:

  • Google — Gemini AI (parsing reminder text), Android speech recognition, Google Play Billing. Google Privacy
  • OpenStreetMap Foundation / Nominatim — place-name search (typed search text only). OSM Privacy
  • Vercel Inc. — hosting the AI relay server. Vercel Privacy

7. Data security

All data that leaves the device is transmitted over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Locally stored data is protected by the Android application sandbox, which other apps cannot access.

8. Retention and deletion

Your reminders and settings remain until you remove them in the App or uninstall the App. Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all local data. As we hold no account and no server-side storage of your personal data, there is nothing separate to delete on our servers. The command text sent to the AI feature is not permanently stored.

9. Children

The App is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

10. Your rights (GDPR)

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, and to restrict processing and data portability. Since your data is stored locally on your own device, you can manage it directly in the App and delete it entirely by uninstalling the App. For any question or request, email info@adverr.hu.

11. Right to complain

If you believe the processing of your personal data infringes the GDPR, you may lodge a complaint with the Hungarian Data Protection Authority (NAIH): www.naih.hu, ugyfelszolgalat@naih.hu, or your local EU supervisory authority.

12. Changes

We reserve the right to update this policy. The updated policy will be posted on this page with the effective date.
